Worship
As a worshiping community, we exist to
treasure the glory of Christ in the world.
Human beings were created to glorify God by enjoying Him forever. All of life is meant to honor Him. Worship is not simply a Sunday-morning
experience – it is a way of life. We all worship something every day – either the Creator or created things. The object of our worship is
revealed by what we treasure. Our desire is to treasure Jesus – to reflect His radiance and worth in every area of life as we love Him with
all our heart, soul, mind, and strength.
Jesus said that those who worship the Father must worship “in spirit and truth.” The source of truth is the Bible – God’s word. But the Bible is
not an encyclopedia of moral maxims, much less a systematic theology textbook. It is a story – the story of God’s gracious rescue of idol-worshipers
and His healing of our broken world.
The story begins with God’s creation of humanity and the world. But we rebelled against the Creator, preferring the short-lived
and destructive pleasures of sin to the glorious beauty of God. The good news is that rather than abandoning the world to destruction,
God has come to our rescue through His Son, Jesus Christ, who died for our sins and defeated death in his resurrection from the grave. Our
passion is to connect our own personal stories to the big narrative of God’s glorious work in Christ as we turn from ourselves and
trust in Him.
While worship is a way of life, it is also a community celebration. Therefore, we gather for corporate worship each week to treasure
Christ together in word, sacrament, song, and prayer. At the center of it all is our ongoing celebration of the good news of Jesus Christ
crucified, risen, and reigning for the joy of the world, to the glory of His name.
Community
As a worshiping community, we exist to
treasure the glory of Christ in the world.
One of the devastating effects of sin is the dismantling of relationships. That’s why a crucial piece of God’s rescue operation is the
creation of a new community. This community is called the church – which is not a building, but a family of people bound together by the
love of Jesus.
We long for a community that is rooted in truth and growing in grace. We are convinced not only that God loves and forgives us because
of Jesus, but also that He is changing us by the power and presence of His Spirit. But personal transformation is a community project. One of
the reasons we spend time together is because we need each other’s help to live in the way of Jesus.
We believe that Jesus is not only our Savior but the perfect picture of what it means to be truly human. The essence of His life was love. We desire to grow in His love by receiving and serving one another as we are shaped into His likeness.
We also envision a church that transcends the barriers that usually keep people apart. We’re a mix of all ages and we welcome people of
all racial, ethnic, political, and socio-economic backgrounds. We aren’t perfect and you don’t have to have it all together to fit in here. We
are sinners saved by grace, trusting in Jesus to make our lives new by the power of His Spirit.
The relational center of our church is maintained through multiple small groups which regularly meet together for meals, spiritual growth, fellowship, and prayer.
Mission
As a worshiping community, we exist to
treasure the glory of Christ in the world.
We are on mission with God to bring about the obedience of faith in all the nations for the sake of Jesus’ name. We want others to enjoy
this treasure!
Missional living begins with deeply transformed lives that display the worth and value of the Savior. Mission is more about who we are than what we do. Jesus said that people would know we are His disciples when we love one another. We believe that becoming an authentic, Christ-treasuring community of love is the greatest evidence of His reality in our lives.
But transformed people love their neighbors and serve their communities. They exist not for themselves but for others. We want to
extend hope to the needy, the broken, and the marginalized – not just in word but in deed.
Being missional also means going public with Jesus. He is the true King of the world and we long to see His saving reign fully expressed
in every realm of life. So as ambassadors of the King, we are committed to sharing the good news with others and calling them to trust and follow Him.
